i say just simple record, and view it should not use that much CPU , but once start doing motion detection
than it a CPU hell
unless you got a supported video card to help offset some of the work load
its around 10-20 % of CPU use but my box is intel atom CPU low power
low CPU speed, so thats not to hard for 5 cameras, 3 of them are @ 5MP and other two are just 1080P 1MP units
